Unique Luxury Resorts in Asia for a green escape

What’s better than traveling luxuriously? Traveling to a luxury resort that is eco-friendly! We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite hotels around Asia that not only offer a luxurious stay, but a sustainable one via its architecture, cuisine, activities, and more! These hotels will give your friends serious Insta-envy!

Tri, Sri Lanka

Tri is Sri Lanka’s first sustainable luxury design hotel featuring 10 unique suites spread around an island headland flanking pretty Koggala lake. Ideal for a relaxing stay, Tri offers a sanctuary built in harmony with nature. The hotel’s geometric ecodesign cleverly reflects nature’s ubiquitous Golden Ratio (the famous Fibonacci sequence).

Living walls, green roofs, solar hot water, recycled wood and entirely local materials are used to create these accommodations. The hotel offers experiences that showcase the Sri Lankan culture and its natural beauty through its beaches, lake activities, fitness, yoga, surf lessons, Ayurveda and other holistic treatments.

Nihiwatu, Indonesia

Nihiwatu is an exclusive beach hideaway, surrounded by acres of tropical forest, located on one of the most isolated islands in Indonesia. The 12 luxury suites on the island are made of thatched roofs – hand built by Indonesian craftsmen using local materials. There’s even a cool tree house elevated on stilts!

Fuel is produced at the hotel by harvesting the meat from coconuts, all waste water is treated and then recycled for use in the gardens, and the daily changing menu is based on seasonal vegetables from their organic garden, freshly caught fish, and eggs and poultry from their own chicken farm. Activities are endless on this pristine island, as guests can engage in surfing, diving, or simply relax with some yoga.

4 Rivers Floating lodge, Cambodia

4 Rivers Floating Lodge is the first floating tented camp in the world. Ideal for some quality time in nature, it offers top-of-the-line luxury, built using only enviro-friendly materials – composite materials in order to protect the forest (using only a limited amount of wood), and a waste water treatment system. You can enjoy tours of the neighboring jungles, mountains, and rainforests, or going kayaking down the beautiful Tatai River, or dip in the Tatai Waterfalls. You may never consider boring hotels again!

Green Village, Bali

The dramatically designed Green Village is set along the terraced slopes of the Ayung River in Bali. This community of 18 unique homes has been hand-constructed and custom designed to showcase the versatility of bamboo.

Every home is surrounded by green forest and comes with the soundtrack of the flowing river. Part of the attraction of this community is that it is set against a lush natural backdrop. Other available services are massages, yoga, and specialized bamboo-related guided tours.

Keemala, Thailand

Keemala is an all pool villa wonderland set in the rainforest of Kamala, Phuket and a wonderful escape from the crowds. Think thatched roofs, four-poster beds, outdoor bath tubs and private lap pools!

It brings Thai cultural philosophy to life through its design and experiences through spa treatments, holistic programs, gastronomic choices, activities and magical villas and enchanting cottages!

Hotel Tugu Lombok, Indonesia

Located on the white sand beach, Sire, with stunning views of Mount Rinjani, Tugu Lombok features traces of Dutch colonialism and statues of Hindu gods. The rooms are uniquely designed and the hotel is in keeping with traditional Indonesian architecture.

Thanks to its Clean and Green campaign, Hotel Tugu Lombok organizes visits to a local school. A community initiative called Eco Park grows fruit, herbs, yams, vegetables and spices and all the produce is 100% organic. To support a nearby coral reef, the hotel has also built a Biorock structure to generate new marine life. Swim, snorkel or canoe to the site to see the growing colourful corals and marine life.
